Recommended Reading

I have just recently made a list of the books and articles (from magazines, journals and online) that I would like to recommend. This will be pictured on your right.

The purpose of this reference list is to not only display the sources of information I used during my 'Honours year' (2 years part time) for Sociology but also to provide readers with a balanced view of the different types of music genres that are around.

Most of the articles mentioned include PDF (Portable document files) and Ms Word (Microsoft) files, and sometimes J-pegs (.JPG or .JPEG) or text (.txt) files which I have uploaded to Google Docs (documents).

I hope most of you will find them to be very interesting reading.

Things About The '80s Music Industry That Are Truly Messed Up

Imagine being *SO PRIVILEGED* that one can 'hate' me for ... ... not liking Kylie Minogue. GOOD F*****G GRIEF!!!! I posted a response to someone who commented on Kylie Minogue; and I was pretty much on board with what they were saying... They said something along the lines of 'our very own Kylie Minogue' who had become an 'international superstar' etc. I responded by saying, 'with the help of some *very skilled PR*' and executives and the like. And of course, I got told I was 'making myself look dumb' and that I was 'supposed to be an artist'. I started off explaining (very calmly), that I wasn't critical so much of her as a 'performing artist' or human being - she got her 'humble beginnings' in acting (especially in the TV soap opera, Neighbours), and then her numerous hit songs afterwards.  Meanwhile, her sister Danni (Danielle) Minogue got her start in Young Talent Time.  As did Jason Donovan (who played Scott) and ...
