I am not a One Direction fan but I can relate to this, as I remember during my younger years, kids on Countdown squealing to whatever teen idols were on stage e.g. Sherbert and Bay City Rollers during the 70's; Duran Duran and Culture Club during the 1980's.  Even when the Beatles were no longer around, I still vividly remember the cartoon shows screened on TV (even during the 70's and 80's) with girlies chasing them during the credits.  What a scream (excuse the pun)??? The amount of hysterics amongst the teenage girls is unbelievable.  Kitty compares the sound to some squawking peacocks, but to me, it sounds like they are on a Roller Coaster ride or watching a Horror Movie.  But what if some 'disaster' were to really happen on one of the rides at a carnival, and people were really going to be killed.  Then we'd really have something to scream about, wouldn't we? How 90 seconds of rock can get you rolling? I haven't done any article reviews for some time on this blog, but someone posted this on my Facebook page, I just had to put my '2 cents worth' in. Dr Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, a professor in human behaviour, noted various ways one can improve productivity in the work place.  And this included playing Rock Music 'mid morning' to wake up the minds of employees when it has been hours since they have had breakfast (or morning tea) but still have a while to wait before lunch (or in my case, since I had my first meal of the day, until the meal break during my shift, which is a night shift). And when the wee hours of the morning get a bit much, then it is time to *crank it up* in terms of 'heaviness', volume or speed.  Out comes the iPod, and on comes the Thrash (or whatever it is I am listening to at the time).  It's enough to keep me from getting bored at work while I am sorting mail - especially when I have ...

Finally, after 5 years, Greater Manchester Police have officially recognized crimes against goths, emos, skaters, punks and metalheads, as hate crimes, and will now record them as such. This has yet to happen in other parts of the UK, as well as in other countries, including the USA, so they still have a long way to go.  Let's hope this law gets enforced sooner than later in other parts of the world, so that we can peacefully display our love of our music and scenes, with...
